Everyone is an athlete in their own way. Whether you like moving slow, fast, or super fast, you are your own athlete. If you need some inspiration unleashing your inner athlete, then read on!
Here are 3 ways to help you unleash your inner athlete.
1. Find your soul mate workout.
The first way to discover your inner athlete is to figure out what you TRULY enjoy doing. There’s something out there for everyone. Go out and try different things. Take a class. Buy a workout DVD that interests you. Go out and search for it, and soon you’ll find the workout that empowers you and makes you feel like you can take on the world.
For me, I happen to be obsessed with kickboxing. I could do that for hours. On the other hand, other members of Team Coactive absolutely love doing yoga and dancing. So, bottom line? Do whatever floats your boat.
2. Stay in your own lane. Run your own race.
One thing all successful athletes have in common is they run their own race. Don’t compare your progress to the next person. Jon Acutt said it best: “Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle”. Focus. Train hard. You are on your way to greatness, but stay in your own lane. The only person you have to beat is yourself. Period.
3. Know that there is no such thing as the perfect time.
There is no perfect time to start being active. JUST START. Even before you think you’re ready. The first step is always the hardest. The warm-up of the workout is the hardest part.
We know that life happens. So if you’ve fallen off your regular workout routine and are waiting for the “right time” to start again, let me tell you: there is no perfect time to start. Just do it. Do 10, or even 5 minutes of your favourite activity today. Then do it again tomorrow, and again the next day. This will build a habit, and before you know it, you’ll be back on your game and feeling awesome.
So, tell us in the comments below, what type of athlete are you – well, at least for right now?

Most of us spend our working days at a desk, hunched over a computer, usually with our brains in a knot. By the end of the day, our bodies are stiff and in need of movement, but our minds are tired and worn down.
Since the brain has the final say, most of us probably go home and sit in front of the TV, hoping to relax and unwind. When tomorrow rolls around, we drag ourselves out of bed and begin the whole cycle again.
