4 FUN WORKOUTS FOR TONED ARMS

Having toned looking arms is one of the most common fitness goals people have. Do you want toned arms, but don't want to do reps and reps of boring dumbbell routines?

Here are 4 workouts that are fun and effective in toning up those arms at the same time!

Boxing / Kickboxing

Boxing is an amazing total body workout that specifically targets the arms. As you can imagine, punching is extremely effective in building and toning arms muscles. It sculpts your entire arm, shoulders, and even your back and chest muscles.

Try out a kickboxing class at your local gym, or try a workout DVD and you'd be surprised at how quickly you see a difference in the shape of your arms.

Dancing

It may not be obvious, but dancing is a very good way to tighten and tone your arms. Moving your arms in all directions and angles works ALL of your arm muscles, including the smaller accessory muscles. Working accessory muscles help tighten and pull everything together much more effectively than just doing bicep and tricep curls, for example.

For those of you who want a challenge, dance workouts such as Zumba offer classes called Zumba Toning, which incorporates the use of light hand weights in the dance routines. Using hand weights definitely kick up the notch and you'll certainly feel the burn in your arms!

Swimming

Swimming is another great workout to sculpt and tone your arms. Water is such a great way to do resistance training because water naturally provides more resistance than air. The resistance in water is proportional to the force and speed that is exerted against it. So as you increase the speed of the movement, the resistance increases.

Be creative! You can even bring any of your workouts into the water for added resistance, and you'll soon notice the changes in your body!

Yoga

Yoga moves such as the Downward Dog, or the Four-limbed Staff (aka a half push up), are very effective in building muscles in the arms, shoulders and back. By engaging the muscles and holding these poses, yoga uses your own body weight to tone your arms instead of weights.

Similar to dancing, yoga tones both your large and small muscles at the same time, giving you lean and elongated muscles. 

Whichever of these workouts you choose to try or add into your current routine, remember that they're all awesome full body workouts that will tone up your abs, legs, and everything else as well. Have fun with these ideas and let us know what you think!
