YOUR BODY SPEAKS TO YOU. SO LISTEN.

You feel warm with a pounding headache, your temperature is high and your body aches, this is your body's way of telling you to slow down. It's crying out for your to lie down. So rest.

Although we may view pain as a terrible thing, pain isn't necessarily all bad. It's your body's way of communicating with you to prevent further damage. Imagine putting your hand on a hot stove. If you didn't feel the pain, you would burn your whole hand off.

Like in any relationship, communication is key. Maintaining good communication with your body will keep you happy and healthy. A big part of communication is listening. Listening to your body involves recognizing the changes that occur. How you feel mirrors what's going on. Whether you notice them or not, your body is always giving you feedback. So pay attention.

Our body is a very smart machine. It regulates itself and knows exactly what it needs. Your grumbling stomach means it's time to refuel. While your dry throat is your body's way of calling out for hydration.

But sometimes we may misinterpret its signals. It probably has happened to all of us at some point. Sometimes, when we are thirsty, we might misinterpret it as hunger and end up eating instead of drinking water. Also, stress may inhibit our abilities to listen to our body. When we're stressed, we're not as sensitive to the changes that are happening. That's why it's important to unwind so we can be more in tune with our bodies and what it's telling us.

It really is a balancing act. It takes practice to maintain the good communication. In the long run, this good communication will serve both you and your body well. Your body speaks to you. So listen.

EVERY JOURNEY BEGINS WITH A SINGLE HABIT

January 01, 2016

Most of us spend our working days at a desk, hunched over a computer, usually with our brains in a knot. By the end of the day, our bodies are stiff and in need of movement, but our minds are tired and worn down.
